More than just a photo

Anyone can take a photo that shows what you look like. I like photos that show who you really are. 

And I love it when my clients really 'get' my style. 

Whether it be embracing the weather (see what i did there? lol).

  Or embracing each other. 

Mum said the photo above (from a mini-session) exactly shows the craziness of their life at this point in time. It's always exciting when a client loves the same shots you do and she chose this one as the centrepiece of a collage. Mini-sessions are taken in the Park near the Wild Honey Studio in Aroona, near Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast. 

Or we can head to Moffat Beach for some family lifestyle portraits (below) and have some fun on the beach. 

And once again, from a photographer's point of view, it's pure bliss when a client loves some of the more abstract shots (like the one below) as much as you do.

Hats, ribbons, tutus etc etc!

Hi, I hope you are all having a lovely weekend, the weather has been simply gorgeous here on the Sunshine Coast, it's hard to believe this is called Winter! This morning we had a couple of great studio sessions and I just wanted to share a couple of images from a lovely session we had with this family. We had hats, ribbons, flowers, blankets and more to play with so it was lots of fun!

Have a good rest of the weekend, and if you're about tomorrow in Coolum I will be at the Kaleidoscope Market at the Civic Centre from 9am until 1pm. So maybe see you there! Sarah :)

Introducing Relaxed & Fun Family Portrait Mini Sessions

It's been a gorgeous day here on the Sunshine Coast.  A beautiful morning, blue skies and yes, the sun was even shining!... just perfect to introduce our Family Portrait Mini Sessions! Photographed in our lovely, landscaped, local park near Caloundra, Mini Sessions are ideal for updating your family portrait in a relaxed environment; no stress, no hassle. Just a wander through our local park with the kids, and you end up with precious memories of their growing years in a beautiful natural setting.

 Don't forget the grandparents! They won't be around forever. (Too morbid? Sorry, but it's true. All my grandparents have now passed on and all I have left are the photos and the memories). Trust me, don't wait 'til it's too late.

Factory Black

FACTORY BLACK was a fashion shoot inspired by Rebekah, who sourced model, hair and fashion stylists, make up artist and the awesome location. As is so often the case on a photography shoot, the need to improvise and overcome any obstacles presented itself fairly early in proceedings when the model pulled out 30minutes before she was due to arrive. The remaining team voted Rebekah to step up and replace the model so the shoot could continue. I got pushed from advisory role to main photographer, trying to follow Rebekah's vision for the shoot. Here's just a small selection from the day.

Sarah - All in a days work

Back to blogging. Finally!And so much to catch up on. Here's Sarah (Wild Honey's new photographer!) tackling the vagaries of every day photography work. First up, no she's not pregnant! We were doing a couple of test shots for a later maternity shoot and she thought it best to get into the swing of things as the stand in.

Then tackling the great outdoors. She braved the threat of deadly spiders and snakes in the bush (remember she's a Pommie!) to get the best shot.

She did well until I pointed out the spider she was just about to walk into.

Later that same afternoon for a portrait shoot, she didn't let the spiders stop her getting the best angle for the shot. And she survived to finish the shoot. I'll follow up with some favourites from the days shooting soon.

Louise King - The cello guru

I confess to being more than a little in awe of my lovely friend Louise's talent. As well as being a brilliant performer, Louise has amazing organisational skills as was evident recently when I photographed the end of year concert with her students and special guests performing at the Eudlo Hall. With students ranging in age from the very young to the not quite so young, solo performances to an en masse of cellists for the Christmas Carol finale, Louise's energy and smile shone throughout. Here are a few of my favourites from the day.
